Refactoring to Patterns: post-mortem

posted by Carl Mercier

Thanks to Francois for presenting last night!  It was awesome, especially the part about Defensio <g>! (hey! gotta crank up my Google juice one way or another!)  I decided to NOT pursue a career in Hollywood.  My acting performance was rather poor, so I won’t try to go after Brad Pitt’s lunch.

You can find his slides and more info about his talk right here.

I  need your help (yes, you!)…

  1. What did you think of the new format? Should we scrap it, improve it?
  2. Should we take a break for the summer?
  3. We need presenters. You don’t need to be an expert to present, and it’s a lot of fun!

Thanks for everyone for coming, hope to see you soon!

After experiencing it last night I’d have to say that I’d prefer two presentations and honestly once every two months is perfect.

Gary: thanks for your comment. Is it because you felt it didn’t last long enough, or because you’d like 2 different topics?

This was my first MoR meeting (hence my input might be less relevant), and I’d be in favor of what you call the old format (content + dinner + content), content being workshops or presentations. Even if there would be more content in the new model (as hinted by Carl in a previous comment), there wouldn’t be as much as in the old format anyways. I mean, the MoR meeting is meant for Rails geeks, so I’d say, let’s cram in as much as we can :)

Besides, nothing prevents us from ordering Vietnamese, Chinese or anything else, instead of the usual pizza, as this seemed to be a problem in the past…

As for a break during the summer, I thought we agreed there would be only one meeting in July. But otherwise, if there would be more than that, I would show up (provided there are willing presenters of course).

Sorry I missed the last meeting.

maybe we can get in touch with other Rails communities (in Toronto, Ottawa or Vermont) and find out if we can swap speakers with them.
